The Kappa Psi Chapter of the Sigma Chi Fraternity was founded in 2007 at the University of Tennessee at Martin. It has been consistently active since its founding and has initiated more than 200 men into the ranks of Sigma Chi.
The purpose of our local Chapter reflects that of the Sigma Chi Fraternity. Our vision is to inspire and empower our brothers to positively impact the world. Our mission is to foster a brotherhood of transformational leaders who are committed to our core values: Friendship, Justice, and Learning.
Staff from Sigma Chi's international headquarters visited the UT Martin campus in the Fall semester of 2003. They held several recruitment events before selecting the first 15 men to join the Sigma Chi associate chapter and led them through the learning experience of pledging (now called Preparation for Brotherhood, or P4B).
The associate chapter then proceeded through several stages of growth, achieving goals in recruitment and retention, fundraising and financial management, philanthropy and community service, scholarship and campus involvement.
On January 27, 2007, the associate chapter received its Charter and officially became the Kappa Psi Chapter of the Sigma Chi Fraternity. On that day, 40 men became the charter members of Kappa Psi as they were finally initiated into Sigma Chi.
